On Saturday, June 6, please join us for Protostar Mama: Dana Karwas, curated by Sarah Fritchey.
From Sarah:
Dana Karwas’ recent work treats the body as mutable terrain—a living condition that can be mapped, abstracted, scaled, prototyped, blasted apart, morphed, buried, exhumed, and spewed outward, towards our planetary edge and beyond. Her practice moves fluidly between architecture, cosmology, engineering, motherhood, and speculative design, asking what it means to inhabit a body at a moment when human consciousness stretches simultaneously inward and outwards. Mapping out the enigmas, she makes objects that give form to vast yet intimate questions: Who are we? Where are we? Why are we?
We are what we eat and the potluck theme is molds: fermented, frozen, formed, fungi, fun-filled.
The show will feature roving wearable wall texts, prompts for exploring new relationships to others and the space.
The usual reminders:
- The biggest reminder: Please don’t post our street address on social media.
- In general, parking is better on Warren Place or View Street. (Some of our neighbors work nights and we like to leave parking on Ridge for them.)
- Please no canines. Gracie is an older lady and we recommend admiring her from a distance. (She is not aggressive, unless you try to pet her.)
- If you have any upcoming exhibition brochures or posters, feel free to bring them. We want to help spread the word about other events and spaces.
- We try to cap everything off by 10 p.m.
